House of Representatives Demands Arrest of Unlicensed Auctioneer and NCAT Director Over False Information
The House of Representatives has called for the arrest of an unlicensed auctioneer and the Director of Quality Control at the Nigeria College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria, Kaduna State, for providing false information under oath. This follows an investigation into the sale of two helicopters by the Federal Government-owned college for $1.2 million.
The House Committee on Public Assets, chaired by Rep. Ademola Kuye, made the demand after interacting with NCAT management and other relevant bodies in Abuja. The committee also requested the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to take over the investigation into the alleged illegal sale of the helicopters.
The investigation revealed that the aircraft were sold without the approval of the Federal Executive Council, and the committee expressed concern that the two choppers, bought for $2.4 billion, were sold for $1.2 billion without following due process.
The committee had requested documents and information from NCAT, including a list of assets and a comprehensive description of their specifications, acquisition dates, and current status. However, the responses received were deemed inadequate.
Additionally, the committee queried the use of an unlicensed auctioneer who failed to provide satisfactory responses to inquiries. Musa Alkali, Coordinator of the Nigerian Army Aviation, urged the recovery of the two helicopters.
The House of Representatives is determined to recover public assets and investigate the illegal sale of government properties. The arrest and investigation of the unlicensed auctioneer and NCAT Director are part of this effort.
