The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has expressed its commendation to President Bola Tinubu for his recent appointment of distinguished academicians, technocrats, and politicians to the governing councils of tertiary institutions across the country.

In a statement, NANS President, Comrade Pedro Chibuzor, praised President Tinubu for his swift action in constituting the governing councils, which includes the appointment of over 200 academicians, including 100 professors and PhD holders. This move, according to NANS, demonstrates the President’s commitment to transforming Nigeria’s academic institutions and addressing the concerns of students.

“Nigerian students are immensely grateful to President Tinubu for his love and concern for the transformation of academic institutions,” said Comrade Chibuzor. “We commend him for appointing a team of incorruptible and seasoned administrators to fast-track the development of our ivory towers.”

NANS also congratulated the newly appointed governing council members and chairmen, urging them to prioritize justice and fairness in their leadership. The association appealed to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to collaborate with the new council members and support President Tinubu’s efforts to revitalize the education sector.

This appointment marks a significant departure from past appointments, which often had limited academic representation. NANS believes that this new team will bring renewed hope and development to Nigeria’s academic institutions.

“We are proud of Mr. President’s foresight in appointing some of the finest Nigerians to run the affairs of our ivory towers,” said Comrade Chibuzor. “We are confident that this new team will bring about positive change and development to our academic institutions.”
