NFF Blames Benin FA for National Anthem Mix-Up

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has attributed the confusion during the singing of the Nigerian national anthem at the World Cup qualification match on Monday to the Benin Republic Football Federation (FBF). According to the NFF, they provided the Benin FA with the updated version of the national anthem, but they played the wrong one at the beginning of the match.

In a statement, the NFF said, “We gave them the recording of our new national anthem, only for them to play the wrong one at the beginning of the match. We protested strongly and insisted that the Super Eagles would not start the second half until the new national anthem of Nigeria was played.”

This incident has sparked controversy and raised questions about the organization and communication between the two football federations. The NFF’s swift response and insistence on playing the correct national anthem demonstrates their commitment to national pride and protocol.
