Kogi Eastern Zone: Senator Echocho Boosts Food Sufficiency with Fertilizer Donation

In a bid to enhance agricultural productivity and ensure food sufficiency in his constituency, Senator Isah Jibrin Echocho has donated hundreds of 50kg bags of fertilizer to farmers across the nine local government areas of Kogi East.

The donation, made yesterday, is part of the senator’s legislative provision for his constituents and aims to support farmers in improving their yield during this farming season. According to Hon Ibrahim Amodu, legislative aide to the senator, the fertilizer donation is targeted at boosting food crop production, including rice, maize, beans, millet, and cassava.

Specialized fertilizer designed to improve rice yield was distributed to the three riverine local government areas with rice production prospects, namely Ibaji, Omala, and Bassa. This targeted support is expected to enhance rice production in these areas, benefiting local farmers and contributing to food security in the region.

Senator Echocho’s donation demonstrates his commitment to supporting the agricultural sector in Kogi East and improving the lives of his constituents. The gesture is expected to have a positive impact on the lives of farmers and their families, as well as contribute to the overall food sufficiency in the region.
