The House of Representatives summons cement companies like Dangote and BUA within 14 days to explain the surge in cement prices

The House of Representatives has summoned Dangote, BUA, and other cement companies to appear within the next 14 days regarding the increase in cement prices.

This came after the companies and others did not show up for the investigative hearing on Tuesday.

The House established a joint committee comprising members from the committees on solid minerals, Commerce, Industry, and Special Duties to look into the sudden rise in cement prices in Nigeria by cement producers.

The House has requested the presence of the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, before the committee as he was absent on Tuesday. The minister has been instructed to attend on Tuesday, May 21, while Dangote, BUA, IBETO, and other relevant parties are required to attend on Monday, May 20, 2024.
