Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has argued that Nigeria’s challenges, including the current economic strain, stem not solely from politicians but also significantly from civil servants and technocrats.
Kalu disclosed during a courtesy visit by attendees of the Platform Public Service Boot camp at the National Assembly, Abuja, on Thursday.
He emphasized the necessity of integrating digitization into the public service realm, proposing the use of an auditing app to foster accountability and efficiency.
Recognizing the youth as the driving force of the nation, Kalu noted a widespread misunderstanding among many young people regarding the nature of public service, often seen merely as a means of livelihood.
Kalu noted that public service transcends mere employment; it entails a commitment to societal advancement, a noble calling, and, above all, a duty crucial for the nation’s security.
