In a recent development, former Sen. Smart Adeyemi, who once represented Kogi West in the 9th National Assembly, has appealed to Senator Ishaku Abbo – SIA, encouraging him to step down from his Senate position in the interest of peace and stability within the legislative system. Adeyemi highlighted the dissimilarity between his departure and Senator Abbo’s current situation, underscoring that he had no one to accuse of engineering his exit from the legislative body.
Adeyemi expressed his views during an interview with TVC, conveying his belief that the Senate President likely played no part in the judgment against Senator Elisha Abbo; despite this, he urged Abbo to accept the decision gracefully and move forward with his life, considering his young age.
Adeyemi stated, “It may not have been an issue that has to do with the Senate president; I mean, it may not have anything to do with the Senate president. I’m talking about the judgment against Sen. Elisha Abbo. It may not have anything to do with the Senate president, but again, it’s unfortunate that he cannot take this case further, so I’ll appeal to him that for the peace and stability of the system, he should move out like I was forced out too. I was forced out because of my position on contemporary national issues. But I don’t think my case is similar to his own because I have nobody in the Senate to accuse of having pushed me out.”
