2023: Natasha Akpoti Decamps To PDP

AHEAD of the 2023 elections, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate in the 2019 governorship election in Kogi State, Barr Natasha Akpoti has decamped to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Akpoti’s defection to the main opposition party has been speculated for several weeks before the official confirmation on Wednesday.

Her defection was confirmed in a report by her political group under the aegis of Ovidi Family on Wednesday.

In a report by the group, Akpoti’s defection was spurred her drive to contest for the 2023 election and do more for her people under a bigger platform. It also noted that her political ideology is beyond party cleavages and called on all Kogites within and outside the country to give her the needed support to achieve her political goal.

The statement reads:

Natasha: The Juggernaut moves to PDP

The widely speculated and historical move to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP by no other behemoth of inestimable potential, Barr. Natasha Akpoti, the Ohiogu of Ebiraland has been confirmed. The euphoria of her grand entrance has already drenched the atmosphere as her people are excited to receive her on a bigger platform.

Barr. Natasha has demonstrated an uncommon knack for purposeful leadership, the dexterity to express herself clearly and unambiguously and the unwavering influence to draw dividends all in service of her people. It’s an incontrovertible fact that she is miles away from other crops of politicians who are only visible during electioneering. She has been with her people and contributing immensely to alleviate their predicaments.

The warmly most-talked-about altruistic politician has done so much being a private citizen. Moved by the perennial scarcity of water and the need to uplift her people, she provided potable water supply at strategic locations across Kogi State, empowered hundredths of thousands of women and youths through her impact investment mission and provided succour to the less privileged through donations of food materials and cash.

Barr Natasha also donated 3 sets of ventilators to the Federal Medical Centre to cushion the impact of COVID-19 in the Kogi state when she heard the premonition that the state lacks such equipment. On infrastructural development, she constructed the failed portion of the Okene-Lampese-Ibillo federal road, Ihima-Ege access road and the ongoing projects are Ihima-Ege-Iruvochinomi and Ihima-Imoga roads.

Barr Natasha’s quest to make a lasting impact in the lives of her people must have been driven by Mahatma Gandhi’s quote on humanity which admonishes one never to lose faith in humanity. “Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty”, he said. Indeed, leveraging on her catalogue of humanitarian services, she never stops doing good.

If she has done all of these from her personal resources, it’s only wise and appropriate that we support her to a position of authority where her full capacity and the extent of her virtue can be displayed. Moving to the PDP to actualize her dream of contributing more to the development of her people is not just strategic, it’s equally deserving. She has the capacity, the media, and the people at her back to domesticate governance that seems a rocket science.

We, therefore, call on well-meaning citizens of Kogi State in the micro, and Nigeria at large, to support Barr. Natasha Akpoti as she dusts herself up to fight for the people. We also call on our people outside the shores of this country to brace up for Natasha’s next political move as she is set bring about politics beyond party cleavages, politics beyond big names, politics that is hinged on developmental strides.
