Unknown gunmen, on Sunday, invaded Orie market at Agbedo community in Igalamela-Odolu local government area of Kogi State.
The invading gunmen killed one person and abducted unspecified number of people.
Eyewitness account said the gunmen came on motorcycles and invaded the market at about 2pm and started shooting sporadically into the air to scare the people in the market.
The market was then thrown into a pandemonium as both buyers and traders scampered for safety to avoid being hit by bullets.
It was gathered that the incident was third in a row in the past one year with many abducted.
The gunmen were said to be taking advantage of the thick Apayan forest in the local government area which shares boundary with Enugu and Anambra States to perpetrate their evil acts.
It was gathered, that the bandits had established contacts with relations of the kidnapped persons with a demand of N20 million for their release.
Confirming the incident, the Kogi State Police Public Relation officer, William Aya, said that it was case of invasion.
He said one Johnson’s shop was attacked and the owner killed, while one other victim identified as Edwin was abducted.
Aya said that Police was already on the trail of the gunmen to rescue the victims and arrest the bandits.
