Dekina/Bassa 2023: A Case For Austin Usman Okai-Ben Abdul

by

Since the return to representative democracy in 1999, the Dekina/Bassa federal constituency has produced different representatives across time but that federal constituency has found it extremely challenging to pass the development smell test. No doubt these representatives sent to Abuja to represent Dekina/Bassa have done their best; but there is a consensus among the the people of that constituency that there’s an urgent need for a youthful, digital, national and intellectual individual to steer their sheep at the federal level.

For years the Dekina/Bassa federal constituency has contributed its own quota to the overall national development of the country but has received very little in return. Some analysts have argued that the inability of that constituency to produce representatives with national spread – that can easily advance the core interest of the people of that constituency has been the chief reason responsible for the poor representation of the people of that constituency – and this is where the House of Representatives ambition of Austin Usman Okai looms into relevance.

For years, Austin Usman Okai has carried on his shoulder the responsibility of advocating for a better life for the people of Kogi state in general and his immediate constituency in particular. He has steeped on many shoulders and has be frequent detention facilities in the process; but his conviction still push him to go on.

The clamour for effective representation for the people of Dekina/Bassa must start with the admittance that those we sent to Abuja in the past have in the course of the discharge of their responsibility respectively done their best but the people of Dekina/Bassa Bassa deserves better. Austin Usman Okai radiates purposeful and intentional leadership. His ambition to represent the people of his immediate constituency is borne out of the need to better the welfare of his people. His vibrancy, intellectual sagacity and humanity has prepared him for this huge task ahead and I believe like many other from his constituency that he is equal to the task.

Regardless of party affiliation, it’s time for men of good conscience and reasoning to arise enmass to support a man that has the interest of his people at heart – and Okai is that man. Like the saying goes: a people get the leaders they deserve. The good people of Dekina/Bassa deserves quality representation and a vote for Austin Usman Okai is a vote for effective and efficient representation.
