The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with theNational Agency for Food and Drug Administration NAFDAC to ensure proper check to ensure that operators and consumers are fairly treated in the industry.

Babatunde Irukera, FCCPC’s chief executive officer, said that the “Signing this MoU today is momentous and consequential in what it portends for govt’s primary responsibility to protect citizens as food and drugs are a key and first line issue in protection.
This signing ceremony may mark the end of a process, but it actually marks the beginning of the work”.
Irukera stressed the important of both in food safety system of the country, observed that the agreement has become necessary as they have previously signed such understanding with others, like Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), The National Biosafety Management Agency, NBMA, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the United States’ foremost competition and consumer protection authority, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
He expressed optimism that the agreement would soon be operational,
“For us, consumption is as much about pricing as it is with disposable income and with satisfaction,” he said.
“People are likely to purchase again if they are satisfied and if there is enough money to purchase again, so we are partners in making sure that consumers are treated fairly.
