Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has thrown out a motion seeking to draw the attention of the House to the promise they made to Nigerians on the passage of the Electoral Act Amendment Bill by the first quarter of 2021.

The lawmaker, Bede Eke representing Abhor Mbaise/Ngor Okpala federal constituency of Imo State told the House that his constituents have promised to embark on recall proceedings against him if he fails to make their intentions known.

But the speaker insisted he’s ruled out of order stating that there are several other reports before the House yet to be considered.

This is as members of the Alliance of Civil Society Organizations continue their “Occupy NASS” protest at the gate of the National Assembly, calling for the immediate passage of the bill.
