University of Abuja, Teaching Hospital UATH Gets Accreditations For 11 Medical Programs,

 

The University of Abuja Teaching Hospital UATH Gwagwalada has attained accreditations for 11 of it’s Medical programs of specialities for postgraduate residency training in the last three years.

This is in addition to the designation of the tertiary health institution as centre for three professional examinations, such as Royal College of Obstectricians and Gynaecologist (UK) Part 1 Exam-2017, Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria(MDCN,2018), and West African College of Surgeons, Membership and Fellowship Exams-2020.

The programs accredited included Community Medicine(WACP, Sept 2018, and Laboratory Medicine with first accreditation (WACP,Aug,2019), while nine others got full accreditation.

These are Radiology (NPMC,Sept 2019), Opthalmology (NPMC,WACS, January 2019),Otorhynolaryngology (NPMC,June,2019), Cardiology(WACP, January 2020), Nephorology(WACP, January,2020), and Endocrinology(NPMC,2017).

The Honourable Minister of Health Dr. Osagie Ehanire visited University of Abuja Teaching Hospital on 18th February, 2021. He was taken round by the Chief Medical Director, Prof Bissallah Ekele and other members of the top management to inspect the New Infection Disease Center;

Others are Family Dentistry(NPMC October,2018), Plastic Surgery (WACS, February,2019 ) and Obstetrics and Gynaecology (NPMC,Nov,2018).

The Chief Medical Director CMD of the Hospital, Professor Bissala Ekele says this is in line with the determination of the current Management to ensure that all the Medical programs get accreditation within the time frame.

With the accreditations and the examination centre, the Hospital will improve as a designated research centre for Medical programs.
