NEW APCON REGISTRAR MEET PROF ARMSTRONG IDACHABA , SEEKS COLLABORATION WITH NBC

The New Registrar of Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria, APCON, Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, on Tuesday, September 29, 2020, paid a courtesy visit on the Ag. DG of the National Broadcasting Commission, Prof. Armstrong Idachaba and his Management team at the NBC headquarters in Abuja.
The Registrar, noting, that the two agencies have common stakeholders, was in the Commission to seek ways to put to rest, some critical issues militating against the progress of the Industry with regards to protecting the NBC/APCON Licensees. He noted with dismay, the heavy debt burden against the media houses and also the unhealthy practice of media houses owing staff salaries. These he said, negates International best practices. The move was also intended to clear the controversies about the mandate of the two agencies as regards advertising revenue.
While welcoming Dr. FadoIapo to the NBC, the Ag. DG, Prof. Armstrong Idachaba congratulated him on his new appointment, adding that stakeholders of advertising and broadcasting believe that his entry indicates a new era of vibrancy in the Sector. He also said that the industry looks forward to some re-tooling and re-focusing of the advertising sector in the Nigerian media landscape.
Prof. Idachaba further added that the NBC has had a long history of cordial working relationship with APCON. On this note, the NBC knows that there is increasingly a need for both agencies to collaborate for the good of the advertising and broadcasting industry and for the general benefit of Nigeria.
