Since the inauguration of the 9th Assembly ,the desire of the Federal Lawmaker representing the area to return the people to the globally acceptable form of vocation of subsistence and commercial farming, had been on the front burner.
Hence he made the provision of basic prerequisites needed to boost agriculture in the Federal Constituency his topmost priority, as the general believe on Agriculture as the main stay of any sane environment is not negotiable.
The Federal Lawamker did not hide his feelings of returning the area to food basket of Kogi state, as the areas are predominantly known for the production of Yam, Beans,Rice,Cassava, and other farm products in commercial quantities.
Rt Honourable Abdullahi frowned on the downturn of both subsistence and commercial farming, that had been the bane of the survival of the people of the areas ,as he vividly recall those good old days when Ankpa, Olamaboro and Omala was providing relief farm products to the people of the state.
His decision to invest multi million naira into Agriculture was beyond people’s imagination and political pretence, by launching a well articulated program to return the people to Agriculture not for survival or vocation ,but commercially oriented status.
Less than one year in office,he launched a robust agricutural program to the people of Ankpa federal Constituency through provision of farmlands , fertilisers,inputs,seeds and seedlings, that could resist any form of land tenure to his Constituents.
The distribution of this basic items that will stimualte bumper Agricultural activities also included chemicals and funds made available to include the indigenous products that will address the perenial food shortage in the areas, and return his constituents to aggressive farming .
The launching pad intiated by Hon Halims had contributed in no small measure as the people of the areas return to farm in the Federal Constituency, with excitement to ensure the availability of all round harvest this year.
Hslims did not rest on his oars,aside providing farm imputs and other equipment which include fertilisers to boost Agriculture,alot of efforts was put in place to synergise with the House of Representatives Committee on Agriculture, to attract more agricultural programs to his Federal Constituency by the Federal government and private sectors through investors both foreign and local ones.
His recent visit to the National agricultural Lands Developement Agency(NALDA)showed alot of seriousness on the part of the Federal Lawmaker to return the area to farming as a vocation,by extension the entire Kogi state.
His visit according to him was to familiarize with the organisation,their modus operandi,provide enabling environment to farmer in Ankpa Federal Constituency, through a well thought out National intervention,so as to return the Operation go back to Land, initiated by him as a serious business.
He tasked NALDA to assist in providing both wealth of experience and policies that will develop agriculture as the main stay of the people of the area.
Hon Halims also made a case to the state government to include the people of Ankpa Federal Constituency practically into it’s robust agricutural programs in the state .
He is interested in seeing once again where the business of cassava and it’s products,large quantity of palm oil and palm kernel business in Olamaboro,as well as the usual Yam harvest and rice business in Omala along with large fish production return to his Constituency.
HALIMS with this initiatives has extricate food crises through provision of the basic necessities of life, and survival not only through white collar jobs as an acceptable norm in Ankpa federal Constituency.
