Kogi; Local And State Pensioners Overruns Dekina Local Government Secretariat,Offers Prayers For Over 30 Months Pension Arrears.
The premises of Dekina local Government secretariat is about now taken over by Kogi pensioners, for prayers to soften the mind of Governor Yahaya Bello for non payment of over 30 months Pension Arrears. THE OBSERVERS TIMES learnt
The protests,prayers and supplications is about now been observed at the premises of the local government, is to seek the face of God and to prevail on The state government, over lack of attention to their plight in the last four years.
The pensioners trooped out in large numbers, said their decisions to take to prayers, was lack of attention to the sufferings of the pensioners after the collection of 50.8 billion naira bail out funds,Paris Club grants and various allocations running into billions of naira, and subjected them to various screening and verification
According to the pensioners,the state government under Yahaya Bello, have decided to treat them as unimportant citizens, after serving the state with their strength,knowledge and ability for over 35 years in service
The pensioners said since the inception of the present administration of Alhaji Yahaya Bello,pensioners entitlements had dropped from as low as 10 percent to outright non payment running into months
They vow to remain adamant to access their entitlements, untill the state government decide to pay off their obilgations as pensioners are not criminals
They promised to mobilise other pensioners from the 21 local government areas to the state capital ,as any attempt to stay quite,may not attract any attention from the Kogi state government.
