2019: Arewa Christians reject Buhari, as Guru tips him for victory as

The founder of One Love family, Satguru Maharaj Ji, has tipped incumbent President and candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Muhammadu Buhari, ahead other contenders including Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party in next month’s election.

Buhari, Atiku, a former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili; Mr Omoyele Sowore and 72 others are in the presidential race.

But Guru while addressing journalists at a press conference to mark 39 years of his presence in Nigeria, claimed he saw Buhari winning the election with more votes than other candidates.
The spiritual head of One Love Family while revealing his vision for the general elections, message for Nigeria and by extension Africa and its leaders in 2019, stated that he did not see people like Atiku, Ezekwesili, Sowore and others winning the election because more people will vote for Buhari.
He said, “Atiku, Ezekwesili, Sowore and others should support Buhari instead of aiming to face him in the presidential election”.
Maharaj Ji called on Nigerians to vote for Buhari whom he argued had performed better than his predecessors.
He said, “Elections are for human beings. This is the time to call a spade a spade. Buhari is there. He has another term in the office. I don’t see Atiku, Ezekwesili, Sowore and others as President. I believe, if they will listen to me, they should not be thinking of going to elections. They should support Buhari.
“Buhari is from the North, he has spent four years now by May, let him complete his second term as the tradition that a man from North will spend eight years and South will spend eight years. All of them, they should wait after he completes the second term in the office.”
Meanwhile, the Arewa Christians and Indigenous Pastors Association has said it is not supporting  Buhari’s re-election bid in next month’s presidential poll.

The President of ACIPA, Rev Luke Shehu, in a statement said the association  would soon announce  its candidate for the 2019  presidential poll.
He said, “While there is the liberty of choice for political affiliation or interest, we observe with dismay the report that the CAN has endorsed President Buhari for a  second term. Likewise, the reported endorsement and photo to confirm the support of Northern Christian youths for Buhari have been of interest.
“However, on our part, having reviewed the performance of President Buhari since his election in 2015 and after wide consultations, we have concluded that Buhari is not a viable option for President in 2019. Therefore, he is not our candidate.

The ACIPA chief added, “In view of the role of the security operatives during the elections in Ekiti and Osun states and the manipulations and impunity experienced in some states during the local government elections, we cannot, in good faith, accept the police assigning special teams across Nigeria from January.
“Likewise the decision of the armed forces to embark on military Operation Python Dance in  the 36 states. These are highly suspicious attempts in view of their desperation to hold on to power.”
