In a jaw-dropping move, nine Adara Elders have slapped former Kaduna State Governor, Nasiru El-Rufai, with a staggering N2.3 billion lawsuit over alleged human rights abuses and unlawful imprisonment.

The elders, led by Aweni Dio Maisamari, claim they were illegally detained for over three months in 2019 without any evidence against them. The arrest was allegedly orchestrated by El-Rufai himself, sparking widespread outrage.

*Allegations of Murder and Intimidation*

The Adara Elders’ lawyer, Gloria Ballason, revealed that their chief, Rafael Maiwada Galadima, was mysteriously murdered during the same period, fueling suspicions of a sinister plot.

*Damages and Injunctions*

The claimants are seeking:

– N900 million for arbitrary arrest and perpetual injunction
– N100 million for general and exemplary damages
– N500 million for other damages incurred during the court case
– N800 million in special damages for the severe violation of their rights

*High-Stakes Battle*

With high-profile victims, including a former Commissioner of Police and the Waziri Adara, this lawsuit has sent shockwaves through Nigeria’s political landscape.

Justice Hauwa’u Buhari has adjourned the case to next month, setting the stage for a dramatic showdown.
